Coached Run is developed and distributed by Luis Carvajal, based in Spain. This document explains what data the app touches, why, and what happens to it. If anything here is unclear, write to coachedrun@carvajal.io.
Coached Run has no backend server. Concretely, we do not collect:
When you choose to run outdoors by distance, Coached Run asks for location permission ("When In Use" or "Always"). The GPS data is used on your device, in real time, to know how far you have run so the coach can announce kilometre splits.
Your location never leaves your phone. It is not sent to any server, not stored, not shared with third parties. When the session ends, the data is discarded. If you don't use distance mode, the app never uses GPS.
You can optionally connect a Spotify account so the app can read your playlists and, if you have Spotify Premium, control playback. The connection uses standard OAuth 2.0 with PKCE. The access token Spotify returns is stored only in your iPhone's local storage. It never touches any server other than Spotify's own API.
What Coached Run reads from Spotify: your playlists (names, cover images, track counts) and whether your account is Premium. What it writes: playback control commands (play / pause) on the currently active Spotify device, only when you press the corresponding button.
You can revoke Spotify's access at any time from spotify.com/account/apps .
In localStorage (your device only), the app keeps:
All of this stays on your iPhone. Deleting the app removes it all.
Coached Run uses two third-party services, both only when you choose to interact with them:
The voice clips you hear are pre-synthesised with ElevenLabs and bundled into the app. During a session no data is sent to ElevenLabs. The synthesis happened once, on our development machine, before shipping.
Coached Run is rated 4+ but is designed for adults training for running. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Because we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data to access, rectify, port or delete on our side. If you would like to delete anything the app has stored on your device, delete the app from your iPhone; iOS wipes all local storage automatically.
You still have the right to contact us with any question or complaint: coachedrun@carvajal.io.
If we ever change what data the app touches, this page will be updated and the effective date at the top will change. If a change is material, we will note it in the app release notes.
